Smaller Learning Communities

Dear Leander High School Supporters:

The 2008-2009 school year marks the beginning of an exciting and important phase at Leander High School. In the fall of 2005 LHS was awarded a grant to redesign our high school into smaller learning communities. Why redesign the school? We want to continue to encourage students to complete rigorous coursework, while ensuring students gain relevant skills to compete in a global workforce. Most importantly, we want to build a culture of college and career readiness, while establishing positive relationships.

The power-point presentation below is just an introduction to all of the great learning opportunities in store for your children at Leander High School. We are committed to helping you understand the purpose and design of smaller learning communities that unfold over the course of the next two years.

We, the staff of Leander High School, are excited and committed to serving the students, your children, with the best possible resources available. All efforts in this redesign are founded in sound research, and we are more than happy to entertain your questions or comments. Through Academic Teams, Advisories, and Career Academies, the students at Leander High School will experience the 3R’s in today’s education: Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships.
